Pauwels or Pauwel Casteels (Antwerp circa 1625- 1697) Marriage of David and Michal or Abigail Oil on copper 70,5 x 88 cm The artwork is signed in the lower centre P C INV (a monogram known and frequently found in artworks by Pauwel Casteels). The painting matches perfectly with the copper presented by Piasa in Paris on 16 June 2000, especially with the other versions dedicated to the life of David and published in RDK. The artwork was part of a large series (as indicated by the numbering on the back of each painting), now reduced to six subjects on the life of the biblical hero.
