Cesare Ligari (Milan 1716 - Como 1770) attributed Ecstatic Young Man (Jesus or saint?) Oil on canvas MEASUREMENTS The artwork is striking for the artist's courage and skill in realising the splendid moving hand. This significant detail, added to certain pictorial peculiarities such as the broad drafting and the oily material of Venetian memory, leads us to attribute the artwork to Cesare Ligari. In support of this thesis, we know that the Lombard artist studied human hands a great deal, as demonstrated by the dozens of drawings preserved in the Museo Valtellinese di Storia ed Arte in Sondrio.
