Giovanni Martinelli (Montevarchi 1600 - Florence 1659) attributed Magdalene Oil on canvas 57 x 43 cm   Characterized by the sadness typical of Martinelli's figures, the artwork is characterised by dark tones and poverty of color, elements that allow the artwork to be placed in the extreme phase of the Tuscan master's production. The canvas can be referred to the Allegory of painting from the Polo Museale Fiorentino and The two Allegories from the Sgarbi Cavallini Collection in Ferrara. These three artworks are available in the edition referring to the "Giovanni Martinelli da Montervarchi pittore in Firenze" exhibition, pp. 62, 63 and 68 by Baldassarri, Bellesi, Canonici, Fornasari Pagliarulo and Papi.
