Bolognese school of the late 16th century Madonna with Infant Jesus and Saints John the Baptist, Zechariah and Catherine of Alexandria Oil on canvas 79 x 67 cm The artwork reproduces, with a variation, Parmigianino's Madonna with St. Zacharias. The panel can be dated between 1530 and 1533, the year in which it was owned by the Bolognese Bonifazio Gozzadini, and is now in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. Before its transfer to Florence, where it is documented from 1605 onwards, the painting was a source of inspiration for many artists from Florence. In this case, it is very interesting to note the variant in which Saint Mary Magdalene is excluded and Saint Catherine of Alexandria is inserted in her place at top left, probably on the instructions of the commissioner.
