OLD MASTER AND 19TH CENTURY PAINTINGS, FINE ARTS, DESIGN AND ORIENTAL ART

Andrea Lanzani (Milan 1641 - 1712) Saint in Ecstasy Oil on canvas 190 x 132 cm This brilliant and characteristic artwork by Lanzani finds several parallels, and these contribute significantly to the attribution of reliability. The first, and most significant, is found in the figure of Saint Eligius (Madonna and Child with Saints Catherine, Eligius and Dominic, Table XXX, card 42 on p. 163 of the monograph Andrea Lanzani edited by S. Colombo and M. Dell'Omo) in the Church of San Sebastiano in Milan. Then, among many examples, we cite the figure of St. Joseph (The Flight into Egypt, Tav. VIII, tab. 6 on p. 137 of the Andrea Lanzani monograph edited by S. Colombo and M. Dell'Omo) conserved in the Church of San Giuseppe in Milan.
